Many people who have switched to electronic cigarettes are taking into consideration the idea that it is okay to use electronic cigarettes in public places
. The question is, however, is this acceptable. There are many different opinions as to whether or not this is, and why it should or should not be banned from public places. Those in favor of using electronic cigarettes in public places boast about the lack of secondhand smoke and non-existent effects to others around them. However, you will see both sides to the use of electronic cigarettes in public places, including airplanes and restaurants.
Vaping In Restaurants
As many electronic cigarette users already know, using e-cigarettes is not really smoking, but vaping. With that said, there is no smoke that comes along with it. Because the nicotine is vaporized with each puff you take, you are not exposing yourself or others to secondhand smoke. Currently, there is no ban on using electronic cigarettes in public places, such as restaurants, but does that make it right, many are wondering.
It would be difficult to vape in a restaurant without having all eyes on you, as you do exhale the vapor and many around you may scoff or complain to management. You will have to explain that you are using an electronic cigarette, and therefore not causing any undue harm to the others around you. However, there are some instances where you may be asked not to, even though it is not illegal. It is definitely a subject matter that will be looked at on a case by case basis until there are regulations put into place.
Vaping On Airplanes
It may be that using electronic cigarettes on an airplane is a much tricky situation. This is because there are laws in place to ban the use, at least in the United States. With the laws, you are able to carry your electronic cigarette onto an airplane, but you may not use it. However, the laws are not quite as clear when it comes to European airlines. One of the biggest concerns about using electronic cigarettes on an airplane is how it may cause a ruckus between other passengers and the airline crew. While you are not causing any harm to others, you may be asked not to, just to reduce the hysteria while in flight.
This is one of those debates that will definitely be ongoing until there are rules and regulations put into place. Until then, if you are an electronic cigarette user, proceed with caution.
